Retroarch is the swiss army knife of emulators, it does a bit of eveything but doesn't perfect anything compared to standalone emulators and launchers. If you want an all-in-one solution, this is it, bad UI and all. That said, DO NOT download it from the Play Store as it's outdated by years. Download it from either F-Droid or their website.

Would be 5 stars but lately for some reason the app will trigger ANR popups constantly after the slight 4-8 second pause before a game is loaded, and it sucks because the app is so very clearly working perfectly, even the game in the background. I wish I could disable the damn warning for this app alone because clicking wait just causes it to keep repeating. *12/24 I thought I had fixed it by installing a different version but it has started throwing ANRs again.

I use it for emulating PS1 games mostly because it's got an enhanced resolution setting that makes PS1 games look like HD remasters. Final Fantasy 7 benefits from this especially. You can play just about any old game using RetroArch, and the payoff for learning how to set up everything is astronomical. If you can't figure it out YouTube is your friend. I definitely think that this is the best all around emulation app ever made!

After using RetroArch on my PC and really learning what most of the options and settings are I figured I would give this app another try. This app is definitely a powerful emulator but requires a bit of understanding and setup. For anyone really interested in retro emulators, I can't think of a better app than this. If you just want something that works for that one game from your childhood, you're probably better off with a more limited app.

It's a great app, I just wish it was more user friendly. I really like this, and especially like how this is a more mobile friendly version of the pc version. And other than the fact that this is hard to know what your doing if you aren't already familiar with the how to use it, my only real problem is the lack of an in-app editor for touchscreen controls. You can edit them, but you either need an application on your PC or mess with a text file. Add those and this is easily a 5 star rating

Could be a little more straightforward with all the core BS. To the layman it's confusing and unnecessarily tedious. Feels like it saved you guys a step. I've used this app in the past and eventually figured it out but this time I'm getting nowhere and I'm just over it. Other apps don't need me to find the right core online. Trying to get a 3DS emulator with actual save states bc the rest of them on android just don't seem to have that ability and being on a phone, it's necessary.

The perfect one-stop emulator. The menus are a bit hard to navigate (especially the default one) but once you get used to it you can personalize it however you like. There's almost 0 aspects of RetroArch that can't be changed in some way. It also has incredible performance compared to others

It works but it's absolutely not user friendly at all. From the confusing list of cores to a control mapping menu that takes an engineer to figure out, I would go toward a more dedicated emulator that is much more set up for playability right from the moment you open it for the first time.
