Pretty boring - too repetitive and my child wasn't engaged by it. Needs more variety of activities or games. There should be a mechanism for repeating lessons he hasn't done well in without having to reset the whole app or manually select each lesson and game he needs to redo, one at a time.

we keep experiencing freezing, often it will spin for an hour, i emailed a complaint that said there was an up date. where is that? because if you updated it in the app, it didnt work. we have uninstalled and reinstalled it several times and it still freezes when it come to interacting. my son loved it when it worked, but we cannot see how he is gonna learn to read in a frozen screen

This app has potential but theres a big problem that needs to be corrected. We've only had this app for a few days but in the beginning lessons, many of the letter sounds being taught are incorrect. I assume it continues throughout the levels. Many of the pronounciations add an "uh" to the phoneme. I am surprised this has not been addressed and/or corrected as it can be harmful to young children learning letter phonemes. App also has bad word choices for teaching vowel sounds. App needs work

Why does the pre-reader section have books as a review when the main focus is learning the alphabet and sounds? Consider adding word decriptions of pictures (or adding a repeat button on the pictures) as the pictures used aren't great. Hard to pick the correct one if your aren't sure what something is. There needs to be a distinction made about short/ long vowel sounds as well soft/hard sounds. It's confusing to kids when choosing between words that all begin with the same letter.

Phonics is certainly the best way to learn to read, but it has to be five correctly or it will cause more harm and confusion. For example, the sound of the letter "r" is definitely NOT "ruh", but rather a continuous "rrrr". I've never heard it pronounced "ruh-at" or "cuh-at", which is what this app teaches by the sounds, instead of the correct, "rat" and "cat". These are just two examples but this app has these types of incorrect examples riddled throughout unfortunately.

Hooked on Phonics is absolutely the worse app I have ever had!! I can't login to cancel the subscription. It keeps saying incorrect password. I know my password, plus there is not an option to change the password. They keep sending me message saying final notice. They are still trying to process a payment for something I do NOT want. Just bull!

The whole reason I purchased a subscription was because the "Big Reading Show" was supposed to sync up directly with the books. Now I have books and cam"t follow instructions because they completely changed the app without warning. New app is junk and disorganized. No quality content. They should either bring back the original app or give the option of using old or new or have it available on their website. Cancelling overpriced subscription due to this change.

The all works well most of the time, but when the used exists out of a particular lesson, they lose all their stars and have to begin the lesson all over again. That's horrible and makes it difficult to keep track of the progress. It's especially frustrating when you exit by accident and now you must start over, even if you had all but one star. I could mention at least 3 more issues, but I'm out of time for now.
