Prepare for chills! Forgotten Memories: Remastered Edition is making its way to the Nintendo Switch on October 28. In addition to its launch on the hybrid console, this enhanced version of the 2015 psychological horror game will also be available on mobile devices on the same day.
The mobile releases come as no surprise, given that the game originally launched exclusively on smartphones and tablets. It first appeared on the iOS App Store in April 2015 under the title Forgotten Memories: Alternate Realities. This was followed by a Definitive Edition in April 2018, which later reached the Google Play Store in October 2019. Since its debut, Forgotten Memories has been celebrated as one of the top horror games for mobile platforms.
Canadian developer Psychose Interactive has confirmed that Forgotten Memories will receive a remaster on October 28. Besides mobile devices, the Remastered Edition will also be available exclusively on the Nintendo Switch through the eShop. Pricing details have not yet been released. Currently, the Definitive Edition of Forgotten Memories is priced between $3.99 and $4.99 on mobile platforms, and it does not feature any microtransactions.
Much like the original game, Forgotten Memories: Remastered Edition promises to deliver an exhilarating experience for fans of survival horror, drawing inspiration from classics like Silent Hill and Resident Evil. The remastered version will boast enhanced visuals, including improved lighting, new particle effects, higher-resolution textures, and more detailed character models.
Additionally, the music and sound effects have been revamped, along with updated enemy AI and animations. The remaster will introduce a new "Insane" difficulty setting, alongside achievements, user interface improvements, and better localization, among other exciting features.
This remaster has been in the works for over a year, with Psychose Interactive announcing it back in August 2023. During that announcement, the Canadian studio also hinted at a sequel to Forgotten Memories. While details about the sequel remain scarce, it has been suggested that it will feature larger levels and a fresh art direction.
Given that Forgotten Memories is still hailed as one of the best mobile horror games ever created, fans of the genre should keep an eye out for this upcoming remaster. Pre-orders are set to begin on October 25, just three days before the game launches on multiple platforms.
